Cairns Marriage Celebrant | Registered Civil Celebrant | Celebrant Services | Queensland Wedding Testimonials | Contact Del Meehan - Wedding Celebrant
As an authorized Civil Marriage Celebrant appointed by the Attorney General's Department your marriage will be solemnized according to the Marriage Act 1961.
If you are a resident of Australia the Notice of Intended Marriage form must be completed and lodged with me at least one month and one day before the ceremony and no more than eighteen months before.
I will need to sight your birth certificates, or passport ( if born overseas and your birth certificate is unavailable) and documentary proof of termination of any previous marriage (death certificate or final divorce decree).
Prior to your marriage a declaration must be signed by both of you stating that you are free to marry and not aware of any legal impediment to your marriage.
You will need two witnesses to your marriage, both over the age of eighteen.
If you are coming from overseas for your marriage, all of the above applies.
The Notice of Intended Marriage form can be downloaded from the above link and must be witnessed ONLY by an Australian Embassy/Consular Authorized Staff Member or a Notary Public of your country.
Documents not in English need to be translated, and these documents plus the originals need to be brought with you.
The Notice of Intended Marriage and other documents can be faxed to me, but the original of all documents must be brought with you to be sighted by me.
